Demotivation: Recognize the Cause and How to Overcome It Have

 By: Yoga Indrawan

Have you ever felt tired and also lost your enthusiasm for doing something you used to
love? If you answered "yes," it means you are experiencing what is called
"demotivation." Demotivation is a feeling where we feel tired and lose enthusiasm and
cause a feeling of wanting to give up on doing a job.

Demotivation arises because you feel you can't do something optimally, be it work or
tasks that are already the responsibility of your friend. Demotivation can also be
caused by physical, mental, or emotional fatigue caused by excessive stress. When
stress is prolonged you will feel unmotivated to do something.

This demotivation can affect the quality of our work because when we are
demotivated, we can't do our work optimally because we don't feel enthusiastic about
doing it.

So what are the signs that we are demotivated?

Here are the signs you need to know:

  • Isolating Yourself from the Environment

When someone is demotivated, they have no interest in socializing, even just doing
what they used to like, such as doing hobbies. So someone who is experiencing
demotivation will tend to ignore the surrounding environment.
  •  Loss of Interest in Developing Yourself
When a person is demotivated, he will also feel disinterested in doing certain things.
Because they are losing the enthusiasm to do it, for that, if you are demotivated, you
should take a break and return to doing it after you feel better.
  • There is excessive fear.
Loss of initiative can also appear along with excessive fear in yourself that it can
eliminate your interest in developing yourself. Excessive feelings of anxiety can hinder you
because it makes you a pessimistic person.

    So what causes demotivation?

As explained earlier, the cause of demotivation consists of many factors, such as
physical, mental, or emotional fatigue caused by prolonged stress. This condition can
cause a person to lose motivation to do a job so that he looks not enthusiastic about
doing it.

The way to overcome this is to take a break from all kinds of routines, and let your body,
thoughts, and negative feelings go away. After feeling better then, you can run all these
routines.

Time Management Between Studying And Organization

For those of you who are just entering Campus, of course you will be faced with the choice of being active in the organization or not, right?

An organization is a unit consisting of parts in associations, etc. for certain purposes, as well as cooperative groups between people held to achieve common goals. Organizing can improve skills in many fields, even skills outside the field of college majors, broaden your horizons, expand your network of friends that can help you develop a career after graduating from college and work, hone your leadership spirit, train yourself to be able to solve problems easily, train soft skills that are needed in the world of work.

Usually, the consideration of students who are not active in organizations is the fear of not being able to focus on college and eventually not graduating on time. Even though many students are organized but still graduate on time. The key to being able to graduate on time but still being able to organize is time management, in addition to making you able to keep your coursework and organization from being neglected, but also useful for making you still have free time to just relax during busy activities.

Some tips for dividing your time between lectures and organizations that you can do:

1. Join organizations according to your interests and talents

There will be many organizations that you will meet while in college. Do not be confused to choose an organization. Make sure that the organization you want to join is under the talents you have so that your abilities are honed.

2. Prioritize Lectures

The main task of students is to study and study well. Try to keep up with the lecture process and always do your assignments seriously. Don't let your lectures be abandoned and your IP down just because you're too busy organizing. Don't forget to also avoid skipping class just because there are activities in the organization.

3. Create a daily schedule

Create class schedules and organization. When making a schedule, determine your priorities. Prioritize lectures and do assignments. After that, adjust it to the schedule of your organization's activities. Also, enter the free schedule or free time in the schedule that you have created. You can use this free time to rest or use it for quality time with friends and family.

You can make a schedule with google calendar or if you want to look more aesthetic you can use an acrylic planner from ECFL.MART (https://instagram.com/ecfl.mart?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=)

4. Flexible with schedule

Even though you have made a schedule, there is nothing wrong with being a little flexible and not following the set schedule. Because being flexible with your schedule will keep you from stress and increase productivity, so you can follow the lecture process and carry out organizational tasks as well as possible.

5. Focus on doing one thing with the allotted time

So that you can still graduate on time with satisfactory grades and the organizational activities you participate in are not neglected, try to focus on doing one thing at the allotted time. So that at another time that has been determined, you no longer think about the work that you haven't finished yet.

6. Get enough rest

During the hectic activities that you do, try to keep enough rest by sleeping 7-8 hours every day. Because after all, adequate rest is beneficial to prevent stress and increase productivity. In addition, don't forget to keep exercising, meet your fluid needs by drinking water every day, and eating nutritious foods. Because this can be useful for improving your body's health, you stay healthy and actively do all your college assignments.

7. Know your abilities

Everyone has their abilities and capacities. So, when you feel very tired and can no longer balance your time between lectures and organizations, it's a good idea to let go of one or two organizations that you are following. Because after all health and college is the most important thing.

Doing lectures and organization at the same time does seem very tiring. However, if you follow the tips for dividing your time between lectures and organizations as above, then you will tend not to feel tired and always be enthusiastic about activities. After all, when you graduate from college and work, your college years and being active in organizations will be things you may miss.

This Memories ?

Emptying the heart is a difficult choice. It's at the point that made me choose this path. At the moment, I think it is better never were to know—the point where I regret all my decisions. And in the end, I think it is better to lose memory than leave memories. Indeed, many say this is the risk of wanting to make love. But ironically, the error keeps repeating itself

It's two years is a long time. But not long enough to treat the wound. Wounds that are just a little glance may open again. Even though these two people had walked in different directions, the black thread covered with blood still felt the wound. A brief incident that ushered in two years in tears. And making a choice to empty the heart is indeed the best choice.
An unexpected first meeting becomes the first point of a hollow journey. The end of December 2019 witnessed the first meeting that left scars. The sandy beach marks the beginning of the story. And the roar of the waves accompanied by the wind blowing became a loyal listener of the promises spoken.

The initially beautiful journey became a lesson about the importance of looking ahead. A heartbreaking farewell that could not be guessed was the beginning of the tears that fell. All the sacrifices that finally no longer feel real are finally just pieces of memory that decorate life
After a painful separation, I am back to living my life and rising from all the strange feelings that enveloped my chest, binding the sweet memories that became my nightmares. No matter how bad it is, I have to rise, whether I'm resurrected as a human or a demon.

Practice Makes Perfect

By : Elsa

Hello, El here.

It's been a long time since I last greeted you. I hope you are well. I've been having a few mood swings lately that's kept me out of focus; I hope that doesn't happen to you. Usually, in a month, I can finish 2 to 3 books for me to read, but until the middle of this month, I even spent one chapter of the book I was reading.

I bought this book more than six months ago, but I haven't had time to read it because of my other list. I bought it on the recommendation of a former host on a private TV station that I often watch. He has a YouTube channel with two of his friends. On their YouTube channel, they discussed recommended book recommendations to read, and I was interested in one book title, Outliers. Outliers were written by Malcolm Gladwell, the same author of The Tipping Point and Blink.

Overview of Outliers books are books that tell stories with facts that will change how we understand success. I haven't finished my reading thoroughly. I've only read one of the ten chapters that exist with the addition of a few pages to the second chapter I've read. However, I stopped when I entered the third page of chapter two. As I read a few sentences in it, my brain suddenly reacted by linking one incident to another, and I couldn't continue my reading until I satisfied my wandering mind.

In chapter 2, with the subtitle The 10,000 Hour Rule, a sentence states that the closer psychologists examine the careers of the gifted, the less likely the role of innate talent is and the more significant the part of the practice. This book states that research conducted by K. Anders Ericsson, a psychologist, and his colleagues compared amateur and professional piano players. His study found a similar pattern at the Academy of Music about violinists divided into three groups. In his research on amateur and professional piano players, it was found that amateur piano players at the age of children practiced no more than 3 hours per week. By the age of twenty, they had practiced about two thousand hours. Professionals, on the other hand, increase their training time every year, and by the age of twenty, they have practiced ten thousand hours.

And, interestingly Ericsson and colleagues did not find 'natural musicians' but rather 'hard workers.' A person who practices more diligently, his talent will be honed to become a professional. Still, even if someone has extraordinary talent but does not practice, his talent is nothing. Like a saying, 'hard work will not betray the results.’ Success is not born instantly; of course, there is a forging practice in achieving it.

I became connected with the concept of this practice in my life, and when I was in high school, I majored in Natural Sciences with two math subjects, one compulsory math, and the other special math. I practice every day by doing math problems. Even when there are assignments, I will increase my study hours to get good grades and understand the material. However, in physical education lessons in the swimming section, I got the lowest score. After reviewing it, it turned out that because I did not practice optimally in swimming in 12 years of learning physical education, I still could not swim.

The same thing I found in language, speaking English is not a talent. Still, we need continuous practice with additional practice time to become a professional.

See you in my following writing!

Wound

 By : Hicarawajiki

My romance says

There’s no love left

Swept away

Because of leaving

Which leaves scars

You seem to give hope

But in an instant you break

Where’s the promise you’ve reaped

Where’s the faithful that you cradle

Was it all just an illusion

Or a promise

What you gave

But I couldn’t get it

Nowhere

By : micheyetakata

Time never rest;

always on the move

so beware

if you are not aware

it might slipped out from your grasp–

you lost time

Then all at once,

present become past

future become present

you become past

he become present

us no longer exists

Pile of dreams shattered

into dust and nowhere to be

found, nowhere to be

reminisced, nowhere

I can find you again, nowhere–

we lost and vanished

together with the time

Support System

By: Nana

Coming from the story of an ordinary human being, just like you. She is currently an extra in other people's stories but remains optimistic with her convictions. She sometimes dreams of becoming the world's main character and surrenders to the world's harshness. Maybe those currently walking in the void while believing that "God exists." filled every footstep walking with doubts. she  could say that he almost gave up on his life, and finally, the word 'almost' became the word 'often.'

Who was born initially in a cypress family, in the end, had to feel heartbroken by a daughter's 'first love.' Does she care? Maybe in other people's eyes, he doesn't care. But does anyone know? She whispered to her pillow on a third of the night. She shared her tears with her hoarse voice, which was almost desperate. The heartbreak left an invisible scar on her soul. She allows her soul to be consumed by a pain that doesn't even have a cure. How can she trust others when her 'first love' left this invisible scar? How did she survive? When she looks in the mirror, she again says, "is it me"? Why can I survive" many have dialed even though she doesn't understand; why can she survive?

Other people might interpret the support system as another human who provides support, but not for her. She can survive because of the non-human support system she has. Dreams, ideas, ego, and even revenge can be a sound support system for the right people. Where she can now survive is no longer for his family, no longer for her friends but really for her life. To defend her ego, achieve her goals, and prove that she can be without the mental destroyer under the guise of family. Is she selfish? What is more important than yourself? What is more valuable than yourself? Are there people who are not selfish? If she doesn't think about himself, does anyone else think about him?

It was a long journey to get to this point. The point where she wanted to share the story through short writings that might mean nothing. When she looked back, she was so proud of himself that she got through it all. All can not be separated from the role of the burdened support system. The struggle to pursue the dream of a bachelor's degree at the end of her name did not take away from it. The effort to maintain sanity in which her environment asks her to get away from the world quickly. what can she do without this support system? she might go crazy without her support system.

Maybe the support system is standard. Perhaps I'm exaggerating if I say, "the support system is one of my sanity saviors." Could imagine if he did not have a support system. What will he hope for if he has no ego, dreams, ideals, and pain if he does not have them? Maybe he wouldn't be writing now, and possibly his name was engraved on the tombstone instead of the college degree he dreamed of.

Everyone's support system is different. Maybe for her, the support system doesn't have to be human, but if, for you, your 'support system' is human, keep it. A support system may be a trivial thing that is often spoken about but not seen. The support system may be there, but you don't feel it. One decision today is a new step tomorrow.

My First Love

By : Elsa

I believe that we have something that we really like. Be it food, drink, color, someone, or lessons. I like many things, but I like the most are books, jasmine-scented tea, morning, and the color green. I enjoy reading, although lately I rarely touch books on my desk. I always like it when I open the window in the morning with the fresh air that fills my room. Acacia trees snaking across my house to the chirping of the morning birds. Sitting in my study chair with a cup of jasmine-scented tea served on the table. Then my hands unfolded the sheets of ink scribbled words that I hoped would satisfy my inner passion.

Books are my first love. On my 5th birthday, my father gave me a book. I remember that my father gave me a bobo magazine. Since then, I have liked reading my mother's magazines, school books, and books I borrowed from the library. My favorite author is Buya Hamka; the first work I read was Tenggelamnya Kapal van der Wijck which I borrowed from my school library. I like the style of language, the letters Zainuddin wrote to Hayati, and vice versa. Likewise, his book "Merantau ke Deli" is full of life messages.

There is also one book that left me deeply traumatized. A novel by Nawal El Saadawi entitled "Women at Zero Point." Nawal El Saadawi wrote this story based on the experiences of a woman from Qanaatir prison. A woman named Firdaus who I think leads a terrible life. Her life is like a ball in a game. She is not in control of herself. with a tragic ending when she was only trying to defend herself. how lousy life treats her. This book also opens a view of women's like Firdaus, who are often shunned by society.

Through the scratches on each page, I can get to know new souls; I can go to places I've never been, I can even experience a life I never even imagined. Sometimes I am disappointed when my mind is not satisfied with the stories told. When I'm angry, I will read it over and over again.

Maybe books are boring, obsolete, old-fashioned things. But with books, I feel my world is alive. Whatever you like, learn to take care of it, love it, whether from far or near.

Anxiety Disorder

 By : Wawan Kurniawan

Anxiety disorder is a mental health disorder characterized by excessive feelings of worry, anxiety, and fear. Feeling anxious or nervous is a natural thing for everyone to feel when faced with certain situations that are considered uncomfortable. However, people with anxiety disorders tend to feel feelings of fear and anxiety excessively to interfere with daily activities. People with anxiety disorders will usually feel worried about various things, even when they are in normal situations.

There are several types of anxiety disorders, including:

1. Generalized anxiety disorder

A person suffering from generalized anxiety disorder can feel anxious or excessively worried about various things, from work, health, to simple things, such as interacting with other people. This anxiety disorder can appear every day and interfere with activities. In addition to anxiety, people with a generalized anxiety disorder will also usually feel nausea, headaches, difficulty concentrating, shortness of breath, insomnia, easy tiredness, and tension.

2. Social Anxiety Disorder

People with social anxiety disorder have a tremendous sense of anxiety or fear of the social environment in which they have to interact with other people. These things make the sufferer always try to avoid situations that require him to meet or interact with many people.

3. Phobia

A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder that causes sufferers to have an excessive fear of certain objects, animals, or situations. Everyone has different phobias depending on the type of trauma they have experienced. People who have a phobia may experience panic attacks or intense fear when they see the thing that triggers the phobia.

4. PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder)

Post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD can occur in someone who has experienced a traumatic event. For example, someone who has been a victim of an earthquake or accident, then he survived. People who suffer from PTSD often find it difficult to forget the traumatic experience. These feelings then make him feel guilty, isolated, and difficult to socialize with other people. Sometimes, people who have PTSD can also experience insomnia and even depression.

5. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

People who suffer from OCD tend to do things over and over again to relieve the anxiety that comes from their minds. For example, when you are anxious, you always wash your hands more than 3 times because you always feel that your hands are still dirty. This disorder is difficult to control, is persistent, and can recur at any time.

6. Panic Disorder

People with panic disorder usually feel afraid and panic for no apparent reason. Anxiety and panic attacks due to this disorder can appear at any time and occur suddenly. When panic disorder appears, sufferers can usually feel some other symptoms, such as palpitations, cold sweats, dizziness, shortness of breath, body shaking, and feeling weak.

Who is at Risk for Anxiety Disorders?

A mix of genetic and environmental factors can increase a person's risk for developing an anxiety disorder. However, some people with the following conditions have a high risk of developing this disorder, such as:

1. Having certain personality traits, such as shyness or behavioral inhibition. Feeling uncomfortable and always avoiding unfamiliar people, situations, or environments.

2. A stressful or traumatic event in childhood or early adulthood.

3. Family history of anxiety or other mental health conditions.

4. Certain physical conditions, including thyroid problems and heart arrhythmias (unusual heart rhythms).

Anxiety disorders are more common in women. Researchers are still studying why that happens. This may come from female hormones, especially those that fluctuate throughout the month. The hormone testosterone may also play a role in which men have more, thereby reducing anxiety. As already explained, feeling anxious is a natural thing and is not always interpreted as bad. However, the thing to watch out for is when feelings of anxiety continue to appear even though the triggering factor has disappeared. In this case, you should suspect an anxiety disorder. If feelings of anxiety appear excessively to interfere with activities, do not hesitate to ask a psychologist or psychiatrist for help to overcome them.

Symptoms or Characteristics of Anxiety Disorder

A person suffering from this disorder usually has symptoms or characteristics that vary depending on the type of disorder experienced. However, common symptoms of an anxiety disorder include:

Physiological Symptoms

• cold or sweating

• Dry mouth

• Heart palpitations

• Nauseous

• Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet

• Muscle tension

• Hard to breathe

Insecure

 By: Ragil

Who has ever felt insecure? I think everyone has experienced it, including me. In my opinion, insecurity is fear or inferiority that is created due to several factors such as fear of failure or rejection, what other people say to us, and who are definitely victims of bullying.

Fear of failure or rejection is not just because the person is not prepared for something, it could be that the person has failed at the same thing but instead of getting support from the closest people, but ridicule or become a joke. Shouldn't you as a close friend give support instead of laughing at his failure? It's good if the person who failed can get up to be better but if on the other hand, the person becomes insecure about his abilities and becomes a spectator of every activity.

Furthermore, the impact of bullying, the impact of bullying is very large on victims ranging from physical to mental victims which can make the person more closed, and not infrequently there are also those who choose to end their lives. I'm still confused about the exact reason someone is bullying. Some say for their own pleasure, there are also feelings of envy towards that person. I think if that's true then it's a stupid and unreasonable excuse.

And the last thing is to always listen to what other people have to say about us, not infrequently we always hear and even think about the negative words of others towards us, especially when the talk comes from those closest to us such as friends, teachers and even parents and siblings. It's true that people's words are not certain to corner us, but the selection of inappropriate words can lead to misunderstandings.

For people who always feel insecure, it's okay, it's a natural thing, as long as we can rise from that feeling. Memories of bitter experiences are not easy to forget but we can use them as motivation for ourselves to be better. Doing actions that harm ourselves is also not a way out of the problems we face. Think positive and always remember as many bad people around us, there is still God and good people who are always there.

Positive and negative responses are always present in every action we take, so don't get too hung up on negative responses, because there are still positive responses that we must appreciate. And lastly, make mistakes as lessons

You Will Never Know Your Limits Without Trying to Start

By : Jamaludin

Hai guys, eiits, do you know that sometimes we always feel insecure about the limits of our abilities? So, here I am, I want to convey that such things are natural and expected as human nature. But, there is an essential thing that you should know, that each of us has given its advantages and disadvantages. So, why do we grieve for our shortcomings? We should realize that it is not always the lack that makes us stagnant and cannot grow from the other things.

Well, I want to share a story with you guys, so I used to be an apathetic person. In the past, I didn’t want to know and care about the environment and didn’t want to take risks at all. Instead, I always stay in my comfort zone and relax. So, in the condition of being cornered and ostracized, I was once seen as unreliable and unresponsive. Well, this is a tight slap for me in response to their rude remarks. But, I don’t want to reply to their words that insult me, but I use it as a motivation to change myself.

Since Junior High School and Senior High School, I have used my study time as well as possible, not only regarding lessons at school but also organization. As a result, this is where my self-confidence began to emerge, and I became a stronger person. I started to try to participate in various competitions, exchange student activities, get out of my comfort zone, and always be open to receiving criticism and suggestions from others. Alhamdulillah, I never imagined in my mind that I could produce the best achievement so far, which I thought before, that there was no way I could be like my great friends. I give my most significant appreciation to myself.

The moral value is to try your best to do something that you think will not achieve and is impossible. Because basically, you will not know at all the limits of your ability without ever trying to start. You are being brave enough to try better than nothing.

Jakarta

 By: Mohammad Zacky

What do you think when you hear the city of Jakarta? a very busy city with a bustle that never stops. It's not stranger to hear that Jakarta is the busiest city in my mind. Living in Jakarta is one of the gifts that God has given to me. The love Jakarta gave to me is like a mother who gives pain and affection to his child. It seems that through Jakarta, God gave me a witness that life is something that needs to be fought for.

I have been grown up, but Jakarta always teaches something that makes me feel like I'm not fully grown up yet. According to some people, living in Jakarta is a sin that makes people reluctant to make Jakarta a part of their journey. How it is for me, Jakarta is a place where some people find their lost self. Do you want to know the love of Jakarta? it gave me pain nonstop, but what actually happened was which made my heart feel more calm for dealing with the pain.

Jakarta is a hope that returns to some people. It is the hope that has been killed by the family and the feelings that make this city as mother in the eyes of some people. Jakarta makes us never give up pursuing what we dream of, unlike ourselves who often break those hopes. The frenzy of society makes some people feel that the hopes they have broken themselves are reborn. Do you know who kept me going? Jakarta

Talking about the people of Jakarta who have never been lost by time, who have never thought whether their souls will weaken when the city lights are turned on. Indeed, our hearts may doubt whether Jakarta is really our travel companion, but the city of Jakarta will not leave a warm story that keeps the soul alive in its hopes in this city of love.

The hope that was lost may not return, but Jakarta has always been a hope for everyone. A city that will not leave everyone behind, a city that does not know time and a city that is not weak knows that the city lights are getting brighter. Maybe jakarta according to some people is despair but for me jakarta is the one who saves me when I'm weak. Jakarta is still strong without me but I will not be strong without Jakarta.

HOW DOES ENGLISH CHANGE MY LIFE

  By: Anju Eranti

Many of us started learning English since we were at primary school, and me too. I learned basic vocabulary like animal names, fruit names and etc. At high school, I started learning grammar and speaking. Sometimes my teacher asked my friends and I to read some stories alternately. Hilariously, we even didn’t understand what did it mean. I felt so confused about English pronunciation because the writing, spelling and pronunciation were arduous and contrasting.

I hated when I heard people talking in English and I didn’t like to watch English movies by reason of not understanding English. It sounded absurd but it burdened me to get the meaning.

Sometime there was a question in my head like “why are there so many languages in this world?” those obstruct us to communicate with all people around the world.

When I was at 2nd grade in senior high school, I was taught by a  genuinely great teacher ever at that time. He is Mr. Chen who gave terrific motivations concerning English. He told us his experiences at the moment he was a volunteer in other countries.

Since he taught me at class, I was so motivated to learn English. I started playing random apps to communicate with people from different nationalities. I used google translate to help me to understand one by one words. I got some friends from India, Pakistan, Albania and some other countries. They motivated me to learn English by taught me how to greet someone politely, how to use vocabulary correctly.

After finishing my senior high school, I decided to take an English course. After a few months, I can speak English, understand what people say and start using google translate seldomly. My friends who have helped me in learning English so proud in that I can communicate with them without using google translate.

By knowing English, my life is more colorful because I can watch movies without using Indonesian subtitle. I can enjoy listening music in English lyric inasmuch as I understand the meaning. Furthermore, I everyday talk with many people from many countries. I join many English events like webinar, MUN, talk show, competition and others. I get new experiences, knowledges, insights and relations. Moreover, I can work while continuing my bacelor’s degree utilize my English.

Being an English learner and speaker makes us closer with this world. English provides me to know more about so many things.
